   The full series to date in one boxset is an ideal purchase. The format remains largely the same from start to finish of providing a half-dozen or so segments in which various presenters look at a stretch of the British coast and then delve deeper to uncover various historical tales, some well-known some less so. Although personal tastes mean that some of the presenters, and their subject matters, are informative and interesting while others are irritating, the fact that another segment comes along soon ensures you never get bored. In fact the series presents a perfect example of how to avoid being dumbed down by presenting just enough interesting detail at a sensible length without being too cloying in the attempt to be educational in a populist way.

   The individual series vary slightly in quality. The first was fresh and intriguing and is presented as a complete journey around the whole coast of mainland Britain. The second has the distinct feeling of being filmed at the same time and includes all the bits that were considered to be not interesting enough to be included first time round. Luckily the third series improves greatly by straying further afield to the islands and Ireland and by putting more thought into how the format can be adapted to tell even more stories. And the fourth series spreads the net even further afield to move away from the British Isles with excellent results that suggest the format can continue for a while longer. I hope so.

   Bought as a Christmas present. Went down a treat! Good value and the Coast fan now has the whole series to keep.

   These series gives you an impression of the coast witch makes you want to visit it. As usual, perfectly made in every way by the BBC. I can recommand it to everyone who loves nature, history and the amazing beauty of the coast in all it’s variaty. Thanks for this beautifull document!

   Well, I was so knocked out by this series on TV I bought 2 box sets. One of which I sent to my daughters in Germany who kept on and on
   at me to send it to them as I raved about it so much. Neil Oliver is just perfect as the narrator. If you want something that will keep
   you glued to the screen this is it, and a bonus – great value for money!!!

   I found this series excellent as I was not as aware of my country’s coast and history as I should have been. I would recommend this, particularly to those still studying at schools or even colleges.

   Wonderful and interesting information. Box contains 4 series; each serie 3 DVD’s; each DVD several stretches of coasts. In total 36 coasts are reviewed. When planning a visit to a coast bit and preparing yourself by viewing the chapter first, it is not easy to find the appropiate chapter in the set. I made my own index.

   An excellent series appealing to those of no longer living in the UK, interesting for anyone with an historical or geographical bent. The stories & details of each area are covered in an informative & entertaining way ….a fine example of great journalism & documentary tv

    I bought this box set for my Dad for his birthday. He thinks it is fantastic. His words were “you couldn’t have bought me anyhting better!”
