This movie of revenge written by Kurt Wimmer and directed by F. Gary Gray who previously had directed music video for bands such as Outcast, R. Kelly and Ice Cube with all the experience from making short music promos the director brings to bare a very stylish method of working using great camera angles and some really tight editing.
Jamie Foxx plays the young and up and coming assistant D.A. who doesn’t want to blacken his conviction record and deals with one of the men who carry out the crimes against the Gerald Butler character and his family.
Time goes go by and everyone connected with the case has got on with their lives and have forgotten all about the way the system let down Nick Rice (Butler) and his young family after the execution of one of felon’s goes horribly wrong and the other is found tortured to death the scenes in the director’s cut of this film on Blu-ray is quite stomach curing with the use various tools and devices the other cut of this film leaves more to the viewer’s imagination and is possibly the more scary, the authorities track down Rice arrest him and that when the trouble really starts to happen.
The film is in 2.35:1 aspect and has a deeply satisfying soundtrack with the sound of gunfire and explosions all coming across in the superb 5.1 surround track, I found this an excellent movie for pure entertainment.

I recently purchased this film on blu-ray & found it an excellant film, i noticed alot of other peoples reviews saying it was too long, but half way into the film i paused it for a toilet break & a brew & i could easily have sat through an other half an hour of the film, definately recomended.

I found the film very exciting and really wanted the bad guy to win, or at least to get away. He was only exposing a corrupt system although his methods were somewhat extreme. It would be nice to see things mentioned in the film exposed in real life, but perhaps in a different manner. Definately worth the money, and worth watching again.
Most of us would react in the same way if any our families were harmed.

One of the best films I have ever watched, I loved the Morality the film had, Amazing acting from gerard butler.
what really got me hooked on the movie was “why” he was killing everybody..
To get his point across, That was just simply amazing, The film goes really indept of someones mind and how it works. And What is right and what is wrong.
There is not one moment of this moive which I did not enjoy. i loved every moment of it.
