This box-set contains all 22 episodes in series 1 of ‘The Clone Wars’. I really enjoyed watching these CGI/animated stories and kind of wished aspects of them were included in the prequel movie trilogy. We get to see many different new planets and races and some awesome space and land battles with Anakin more vividly shown as the “powerful Jedi” whom Yoda speaks of to Luke in that scene in ‘The Empire Strikes Back’.
This series is very different to the 2003 cartoon series made by Genndy Tartakovsky, in which the action was simply relentless and the force powers beyond comprehension. Here, the action scenes (and force powers) are more in sync with the movies except the focus is purely on the events of the clone wars.
It should have been released a bit sooner instead of the 4 episode disc that has been available for some time (I would strongly recommend against buying that). An obvious money-grabbing tactic by Lucasfilm but I can’t imagine many people would settle for 4 episodes only.
Anyway, most of the series follows the two heroic Jedi knights, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-wan Kenobi, though a few episodes do feature other characters such as Yoda (episode 1), Padme and the much-maligned Jar Jar (episode 8), Ahsoka Tano (episode 9), Kit Fisto (episode 10) and Mace Windu (episode 21). Furthermore, some storylines focus on the clone troopers (episodes 5 and 16) with Captain Rex and Commander Cody emerging as fan favourites. Each episode is about 20 minutes long and titled as follows:
1. Ambush
2. Rising Malevolence
3. Shadow of Malevolence
4. Destroy Malevolence
5. Rookies
6. Downfall of a Droid
7. Duel of the Droids
8. Bombad Jedi
9. Cloak of Darkness
10. Lair of Grievous
11. Dooku Captured
12. The Gungan General
13. Jedi Crash
14. Defenders of Peace
15. Trespass
16. The Hidden Enemy
17. Blue Shadow Virus
18. Mystery of a Thousand Moons
19. Storm Over Ryloth
20. Innocents of Ryloth
21. Liberty on Ryloth
22. Hostage Crisis
My kids and I loved watching this and we cannot wait for the second series.

I had a few doubts about the Clone Wars, I did enjoy the film but was hoping the series wouldnt be dumbed down for kids. I dont think it was at all, a few early episodes weren’t great but then it really found its rhythm and every episode was superb.
You get to see/learn a lot about other characters, the animation is superb, a lot of action, a great series.
Only bad thing was the way it was shown in the UK on Sky Movies, complete con as its not a movie, just Sky’s way of getting kids moaning at their parents to get the movie channel ! Should be on Sky 1 instead.
As the reviewer above said dont bother getting the DVD’s with a measely 4 episodes on each one, this box set looks much better and better priced. Looking forward to Season 2 which starts in the US on Friday 2nd.
Excellent series !

If you love the Star Wars prequels then your going to love this box set of season 1 of “Star War The Clone Wars”. If you look close at the style of art work thats gone into the making of this series then you can see that, at least in my opinion, this is a definite homage to the original Star Wars artist Ralph McQuarrie. Beautiful art work, fantastic sounds, great stories.
It is PG rated and some of the directors cuts of certain episodes might be just a little bit too much for the very young.
Before you buy this though go for the pilot movie of “Star Wars The Clone Wars”. Then you`ll be able to watch it all in the correct order. Right now I can`t wait for season 2.

My granson – who is 13 – is totally delighted with this complete set. He and I watch it together – though he often watches it alone or with his friends – and frequently! – as he loves it so much. I was pleased with the result of this present

If you’ve seen the clonewars on Sky, you’ll pretty much know what your getting in terms of content. However it is worth noting that some episodes have been extended e.g “directors cut”. These just give a slightly different perspective of the episode. The extras are interesting and the presentation of the packageas a whole is very good.
Picture Quality on Bluray is astonishing. I just use my PS3 for Bluray, so nothing special in terms of equipment, but the quality of the imagery especially the colours and depth in the scenes has to be seen to be belived.
I can’t recommend this box set highly enough – if your a big Star Wars fan then this is a must have addition to your collection.

The Clone Wars is an awesome look on the massive Star Wars universe.
it fills in the gap between the movies Attack of the Clones & Return of the Sith, which basically tell the beginning and the end of the war.
Now we have an ongoing series showing us what happened in the war itself. Since it is a series and the episodes aren’t always linked completely together you get to see more individual views on the war, the episodes wary a lot, some revolve around Jedi, like the movies do, but some revolve around clone troopers as well…
We see more alien worlds and mysterious creatures and get to focus on (in combat) more strategic elements to the story. All in all a great series, if you like Star Wars, then you can’t pass this up! What I love most of all about it is that it can go into detail on small agendas, not always showing us the big picture…

Lucas is a typical Hollywood director; the more power and control he has over his work the more ludicrous it becomes. Unlike Ridley Scott who gets better with money (Aliens to Gladiator) Lucas needs to be reined in or he’ll make films such as, well, The Phantom Menace. What made the original trilogy work so well was the ruthless script rewrites of the first (which bears almost no resemblance to the out-take version you can find on the Episode IV DVD) that set the tone and pace for the following films. By the time Lucas got round to making Episode I, there was pretty much no-one to rein him and and so we went from the fearless and terrifying Darth Vader to the hapless Jake Lloyd and worse, to Hayden Christensen.
What makes Clone Wars so good is that Lucas doesn’t have the same level of influence as he did with Episodes I-III and at last, we’re allowed to see the larger Star Wars universe. And what a treat it is too; despite being restricted to a limited period of time it shows us places and characters in a way the last three films were never allowed to flesh out. Small touches, such as bored Republic Troopers listening to a radio station to more complex exploration of the characters. Here the cast and creators have something to be proud of because we see what was only hinted at in the original films; the cunning, deceptive fighting strategies of Kenobi and the bold and often unorthodox tactics of Skywalker. Here at last we can see the fearless, sometimes reckless fighting style of the man who would later become Darth Vader and it’s easy to believe that this, not the move Anakin would one day don the mask. Supporting characters like General Grievous are used to good effect with one outstanding episode dealing with one Jedi’s personal battle with his own demons set against the backdrop of Grievous’ origins. The series also goes a long way to explaining how the clones slowly begin to take on characters of their own, influenced by the Jedi around them and while it doesn’t truly explain the finale of Episode III it’s good to see the writers thinking beyond just a handful of characters. Voice casting is perfect and with one or two exceptions there’s a pleasing, dry wit that runs throughout the series.
Given that the audience has most likely seen at least Episodes I-III the presence of Senator Palpatine has been wisely kept to a minimum, likewise that of Yoda. For the former, I’m disappointed but it makes sense given his unique role in the saga but with Yoda I’m relived as he seems to go from mumbling old sage to unstoppable warrior far too quickly for my liking. Even Mace Windu, free of Samuel L Jackson finally has a decent role to play and the first time you see him action is a real treat.
It’s a little slow to start but the animation comes on in leaps and bounds as the series progresses with much more fluid models and more lifelike fabrics or weather conditions, even down to chilled breath on an ice world. If I had a complaint, it’s in brightly lit backgrounds for two episodes where the animation looks more like stop-motion and is distracting enough to skip the episode entirely. On the whole though it’s a great series; the episodes are well written and easy to follow with enough for both children and adults to enjoy. As someone who grew up with the original trilogy this makes a fine addition to the Star Wars Universe and goes a long way to repairing the damage wrought by Lucas these last few years. It’s not a perfect show but I’m already waiting for news of the second series release and hoping they find some or indeed any excuse to carry on long after.

My son was given this DVD 4 disc set for his 7th birthday and he could not wait to put them on! He amazed us as he was able to tell us what was going to happen next as he had read some of the clone wars books, this shows how true to the books the dvds are.
For any star wars fan young or old then these are a must, great item and great value.

Clone Wars.
Initially I was disappointed with the angular computer graphics. But I quickly forgot because the mood is quite the same as in the real Star Wars movies. It’s great with more Star Wars adventures. I have both the Clone Wars movie and TV series because the stories are different. I hope they make more seasons.
